Imagine This to close before Christmas
Imagine This has announced that it is to close at the New London Theatre before Christmas, after a run of less than two months.
The musical, which is set in the run up to the Holocaust in occupied Poland, will now finish performances on Saturday, December 20. It opened on November 19, following previews from November 4.
On opening, it received generally poor reviews. Michael Billington’s review in The Guardian said: “They said it couldn’t be done - a musical about the Warsaw ghetto. And, now that I’ve seen it, I know that they were right.”
Directed by Timothy Sheader, the show has music by Shuki Levy, book and lyrics by Glenn Berenbeim and David Goldsmith. It is produced in London by Beth Trachtenberg, Anita Mann, Leigh Mason, Jean Mason and ICW Productions in association with Theatre Royal Plymouth.
The show had originally been booking until the end of February, but producers had indicated that run was open-ended, if ticket sales were sufficient.
