ROH and Freddy fitness wear company to launch performers’ clothing range
The Royal Opera House and Italian dance and fitness wear company Freddy have joined forces to launch a new range of clothing for performers, which will go on sale in autumn 2009.
As part of the partnership, Freddy has also become the official sponsor and supplier of dance wear for the Royal Ballet Company.
The range has been designed by Freddy creative director Giacomo Novello in close consultation with the dancers, and will include technical dance clothes, shoes and accessories as well as leisure wear.
Royal Ballet director Monica Mason said: “This is a very exciting partnership for the Royal Ballet. With a wide range of rehearsal clothes designed exclusively in consultation with the dancers, it is a perfect fit in so many ways.”
The range will be sold through Freddy stores worldwide, the ROH shop and online.
Freddy founder and president Carlo Freddi added: “We’re delighted by this marriage between two leading companies in the dance field - the Royal Ballet is internationally renowned as one of the finest ballet companies in the world today.”
The company currently sponsors all the clothing for La Scala Theatre Ballet Company and La Scala Academy of Arts, as well as the Italian Olympics team.
