Busted’s Bourne to write new musical for Youth Music Theatre UK

Published Tuesday 18 November 2008 at 16:40 by Alistair Smith

Former Busted star James Bourne is penning his first stage musical, which will be performed next summer by Youth Music Theatre UK.

Bourne, the former singer/songwriter in pop group Busted and now a member of the band Son of Dork, will work on the project with book writer and composer Elliot Davis. The show, entitled Loserville - The Musical will be inspired by Son of Dork’s last album Welcome to Loserville, but will be “entirely new”. It will boast a cast of 30 performers, aged between 11 and 21.

Bourne said: “The show has a brilliant and colourful cast of characters - it’s all about the geek coming through. We think it will appeal to people who aren’t necessary regular musical theatre goers. We hope it will convince some regular music lovers who might not be into musicals that there is something in it for them.”
