Rory Kinnear and Ciaran Hinds are set to star in a new stage adaptation of 1994 Oscar-winning film Burnt by the Sun, at the National Theatre next year.
As revealed by The Stage this summer, the production has been penned by Peter Flannery - his first play in three years - and will be directed by Howard Davies. The show will receive its world premiere in the Lyttelton Theatre on March 3.
Meanwhile, the Southbank venue’s spring 2009 line-up, and the seventh Travelex £10 ticket season in the Olivier, will open with a new play by Richard Bean entitled England People Very Nice on February 11.
Directed by NT artistic director Nicholas Hytner, the cast will include Jamie Beamish, Paul Chequer and Olivia Colman.
The season will also feature Christopher Marlowe’s Dido, Queen of Carthage in March, directed by James Macdonald, and Rufus Norris’ production of Death of the King’s Horsemen in April.
Olivier-award winning Rupert Goold will direct Time and the Conways by J B Priestley in the Lyttelton from May 5, and David Hare is to take the helm of a staged reading of Berlin.
Meanwhile, the NT has joined forces with the Bush Theatre and HighTide to produce Adam Bruce’s new play, Stovepipe. The show will be performed in a secret location in Shepherd’s Bush from March. Directed by Jerwood award-winning Michael Longhurst, the cast will include Christian Bradley, Shaun Dooley and Eleanor Matsuura.
