Australian Carroll cast as alternate Nancy in Oliver!
Australian actress Tamsin Carroll has been cast as the alternate Nancy in Cameron Mackintosh’s forthcoming revival of Oliver!
The performer, who has previously played the role in the 2002 Australian production of the show, will appear on Wednesday and Thursday evenings, when Jodie Prenger - the winner of I’d Do Anything - will have time off.
The announcement comes as the full casting was revealed for the musical. Joining Rowan Atkinson as Fagin and Burn Gorman as Bill Sykes, will be Julius D’Silva as Mr Bumble, Wendy Ferguson as Widow Corney, Julian Glover as Mr Brownlow, Rosemary Leech as Mrs Bedwin and Julian Bleach and Louise Gold as Mr and Mrs Sowerberry.
The role of Oliver will be shared by the winners of I’d Do Anything - Lawrence Jeffcoate, Gwion Wyn Jones and Harry Stott, while the Artful Dodger will be Eric Dibb Fuller, Robert Madge and Ross McCormack.
Oliver! is directed by Rupert Goold. It runs at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane from December 12 and press night is January 14, 2009.
