Hugh Bonneville and Janet McTeer are to reprise the roles they created in the BBC series Five Days for a new two-part detective drama for BBC1.
The show, called Hunter, sees Bonneville and McTeer once again play DSI Iain Barclay and DI Amy Foster, characters first introduced in Gwyneth Hughes’ Five Days, which was broadcast in 2007.
In the new two-part spin-off, Bonneville and McTeer are part of a team of “compelling and unpredictable detectives who are faced with a shocking and highly sensitive crime”.
It focuses on the kidnapping of two children.
BBC series controller Kate Harwood said the quality of Mick Ford’s script and the cast made for an “unmissable event drama”.
“In Hunter, Mick Ford has created a rare thing - a suspenseful thriller which is driven by human characters and the day to day detail of the real world,” she added.
Filming is currently taking place in London and the two 60-minute episodes of Hunter will be broadcast next year.
