David Thompson to produce finance drama for BBC2

Dominic Cooper, Rosamund Pike and Anna Maxwell Martin are to star in a BBC2 drama from the new company set up by the Corporation’s former head of films, David Thompson.

Freefall is the first BBC commission for Origin Pictures and has been written by Dominic Savage. The cast also features Aidan Gillen and Joseph Mawle.

The BBC said the new drama is about the “now imploding world of finance and its devastating impact on those at each end of the scale”.

Savage described the programme as a film that reflects our “obsession with wanting more and wanting everything”.
