Maria Friedman to headline Christmas in New York at Lyric

Maria Friedman is to headline this year’s annual one-night festive show Christmas in New York at the Lyric Theatre in December.

She will appear alongside Avenue Q’s Julie Atherton and Wicked’s Oliver Tompsett in the show, which is produced by the team behind Notes from New York.

It is billed as an event that celebrates Christmas with a selection of carols and newly commissioned festive works from both UK and American composers.

The show takes place on December 7 and will include a brand new song from composer Michael Bruce, who won last year’s Notes for the Stage composition competition, run in conjunction with The Stage.

Bruce will also orchestrate and arrange other material for the show.

Notes from New York began in 2003 with the aim of presenting the work of contemporary musical theatre composers in the West End.
