Exclusive: Graham Norton is being lined up to make his West End theatre debut next year in La Cage aux Folles.

The Stage understands that the comedian and TV presenter, who is best known for his appearances on shows such as BBC’s The Graham Norton Show and I’d Do Anything, is in advanced talks with producers from La Cage about joining the cast of the show early next year. The musical, which tells the story of a gay couple in a Saint Tropez nightclub, runs from October 20 at the Playhouse Theatre and is currently booking until early January. However, it is understood that Norton has been earmarked to join the cast of the show in a lead role from soon after that date, if the production’s run is extended. A spokesperson for the show, which originally opened at the Menier Chocolate Factory earlier this year, told The Stage: “There is nothing confirmed.”
