Arts organisations seek young theatre-maker for £20k commission

Leading figures from the Roundhouse, Donmar Warehouse, Soho Theatre and Hide and Seek are set to choose a talented young theatre-maker to be the recipient of a £20,000 commission.

The theatrical companies are part of the Style Council - a panel of experts from UK arts organisations, set up by car company Vauxhall, which also includes representatives from craft and design, fashion, film, fine art and photography.

Members of the council have created a shortlist of young creatives from each sector, from which they will pick six finalists to receive a commission and become part of this year’s commercially-funded support scheme, the Vauxhall Collective. Recipients of the commissions will be announced in the autumn.

Amanda Neville, director of the British Film Institute and Style Council member, said: “The Vauxhall Collective is a unique chance for establishing figures in the creative industries to support young UK talent. A commission with this level of financial backing can really make a difference to someone’s career.”
