Edinburgh fringe’s Total Theatre Awards winners announced

Footsbarn Theatre Company has picked up a special prize for its contribution to physical and visual performance at the Total Theatre Awards 2008 at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.

The prize, which is given out at the discretion of the award judges, in addition to the five main categories, was announced today at Edinburgh bar GHQ.

This year’s panel of judges featured a range of critics, producers, academics and theatre-makers, including Time Out and The Times critic Donald Hutera, Royal and Derngate associate director Dani Parr and Grid Iron Theatre artistic director Ben Harrison.

The winners of the Total Theatre Awards 2008 are:

Graduate Company

Crocosmia by Little Bulb Theatre (The Space on the Mile @ The Radisson)

Story Theatre

The Man Who Planted Trees by Puppet State Theatre Company (Scottish Storytelling Centre)

Visual Theatre

The Idiot Colony by Redcape Theatre (Pleasance Dome)

Young Company

Architecting by The Team and the National Theatre of Scotland Workshop (Traverse)
