British magician Marc Oberon has been awarded the winners trophy in a prestigious international magic competition.
He was voted the champion by 2,000 magicians in the close-up category, which was the climax of the week-long convention, organised by the International Brotherhood of Magicians and Society of American Magicians in Kentucky.
Oberon, who won the category for a trick in which he turned items to gold, said: “It is an achievement that I am extremely proud of and one of the highlights of my career.”
President of the UK Magic Circle Alan Shaxon added: “Marc was in brilliant form and we were all thrilled at his success in such a high calibre event.”
Oberon has previously won the European Close-Up Championships, the Macmillan International Award and British Ring of the International Brotherhood of Magicians.
