London transfer for August: Osage County after Tony Award wins

Published Friday 20 June 2008 at 16:15 by Lalayn Baluch

Award-winning comic drama August: Osage County is to transfer to the National Theatre for an eight week run later this year.

The play, by Tracy Letts, will receive its UK premiere at the Southbank venue in late November, although an exact date is yet to be announced.

According to a National Theatre spokesperson, casting for the London transfer has not been confirmed. However, it is hoped that Deanna Dunagan and Rondi Reed of the original US Steppenwolf Theatre production will appear in the show.

Earlier this week, August: Osage County won five Tony Awards in New York, including Best Play. Dunagan picked up Best Leading Actress in a Play, while Reed was named Best Featured Actress. Director Anna D Shapiro and designer Todd Rosenthal were also awarded for their work on the production.
