Britain’s Got Talent judge Piers Morgan has been handed his own ITV chat show as part of a two-year exclusive deal with the broadcaster.

Made by ITV Productions, the as yet untitled chat show will be launched in 2009.

ITV’s new director of television Peter Fincham described Morgan as one of the most “popular entertainment personalities” of British TV and added: “I’m delighted that we have been able to secure an exclusive partnership with him on ITV.”

As part of the deal, Morgan will also return as a judge in the third series of Britain’s Got Talent next year.

He said: “I am delighted to be joining ITV at such an exciting time of change and evolution for the network, and look forward to making some innovative new entertainment programmes over the next few years.”
