The show, which premiered at last year’s Manchester International Festival, will run for seven performances from July 23 to 26.
Billed as a Chinese circus opera, the production is adapted by Chen Shi-Zheng from the famous Chinese story of the Monkey King and performed in Mandarin with surtitles. Shi-Zheng also directs, music has been composed by Albarn, while animation, set and costume design is by his Gorillaz collaborator Jamie Hewlett. Dramaturgy is by David Greenspan.
It will be produced at the ROH in association with the MIF.
