ITV has appointed HBO executive Patricia Wagstaff to be its first director of digital productions.

Wagstaff, who was vice president of interactive entertainment at the US network, will be responsible for working closely with ITV Productions to develop content for new platforms and technologies.

She will report to John Whiston, director of ITV Productions, which is part of ITV’s global content division, led by managing director Dawn Airey.

Whiston said there was a “real demand” for digital content and added: “This role will be critical in integrating the production processes for digital media with those of traditional content, as well as in the creation of new content made specifically for online platforms.”

Wagstaff will be charged with building a digital productions team to work closely with ITVP producers and ITV’s consumer divisions.
