The Old Vic has launched an environmentally-focussed community project entitled Go For Green, which will culminate with a specially-commissioned play at the venue.
The programme of events will consist of workshops, debates in schools and educational resources available nationwide, including a behind the scenes documentary following the creation of Simon Bent’s play Branded, written specially for the project, and a resource pack distributed to 5,000 schools.
Branded, directed by Matt Wilde, will be performed by an amateur cast and crew of more than 100 local people. London-wide auditions open to anyone aged 16 and over will take place on February 17 from 10am, and performances will be held at the Old Vic on May 1-3.
Branded tells the story of the most sought-after pair of trainers on earth, and questions if anyone will be willing to sell their soul for the prized shoes.
Funders of the scheme include Adventure Ecology, HSBC and the Hunter Foundation.
