The 27-year-old, who shot to fame after appearing on ITV’s Popstars and Pop Idol, will perform alongside Jill Paice in the production, which opens at the New London Theatre on Drury Lane in April.

Paice, who was last seen in the West End playing Laura Fairlie in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Woman in White, also directed by Nunn, will take the role of Scarlett O’Hara.

Other cast members confirmed for the show, which has been written by Margaret Martin, include Edward Baker-Duly, who will play Ashley Wilkes, and JIna Burrows as Prissy.

Danesh’s other West End credits include Billy Flynn in Chicago and Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls.
