Stop the Cull petition gains 1,400 signatures in four days

A petition on the prime minister’s website calling for people to demonstrate lack of confidence in Arts Council England has received almost 1,400 signatures in four days, taking the total count to just under 2,200.

Within this time, Stop the Cull - the group which launched the petition to urge industry members to show support against ACE - has seen 400 people join up to its page on social networking site Facebook. The campaign’s total membership currently stands at 1,620.

More than 1,120 people have also signed a petition on the prime minister’s website to save Derby Playhouse. The campaign was started in November when the theatre closed for a week after facing financial problems.
