Winstone and ER star Nagra to appear in ITV Changeling drama

ER actress Parminder Nagra is to star alongside Ray Winstone in ITV drama The Changeling, based on the Jacobean tragedy by Thomas Middleton and William Rowley.

Nagra, who also appeared in the film Bend It Like Beckham, will play a character called Anjika Indrani in the one-off drama, which has been penned by Joshua St Johnston, writer of the BBC’s 2006 version of Sweeney Todd.

The Changeling, announced by ITV last year, is being made by Size 9 productions, the production company formed by Winstone, Johnston and Michael Wiggs. Wiggs also founded the talent agency Creative Artists Management.

ITV’s new drama is being directed by Sarah Harding, whose credits include Queer as Folk, Lewis and the 2007 ITV drama Torn.

The broadcaster’s controller of drama Sally Haynes said the programme was “a modern and innovative take on a classic piece of literature, transposed to a wealthy and glamorous world”.

She added: “It is atmospheric and sumptuous and we are very excited to be bringing Ray Winstone and Parminder Nagra together on ITV for the first time in such a unique project.”
