Andrew Lloyd Webber is to make his acting debut when he appears as himself in Channel 4’s teen series Hollyoaks.
Lloyd Webber will appear in the show early in 2008 and will feature in three episodes that revolve around the character of aspiring actress Summer Shaw, played by Bonnie Langford’s niece Summer Strallen.
Strallen’s character will audition for Webber in an attempt to win a role in a West End show.
Speaking about his role, Webber, 59, said: “I’ve blurred fiction with fact all of my life, but never before on national television. Bless Hollyoaks for asking me.”
Strallen, who has appeared on the West End stage, most recently in The Drowsy Chaperone, before joining Hollyoaks, said: “It’s been a brilliant storyline and to have the opportunity to work with Andrew Lloyd Webber was fantastic.”
The episodes with Lloyd Webber will be broadcast on Channel 4 on January 29, 30 and February 1.
