Acting Liberal Democrat leader Vincent Cable has become the latest MP to sign a petition demanding an overhaul of the licensing laws for child performers.

In November, leading stage school franchise Stagecoach launched a petition calling on the government to reform regulations, which, it says, effectively deprive children in certain parts of the UK of the chance to appear in professional stage productions, and also put child safety at risk. At the time, Conservative shadow culture minister Ed Vaizey was one of the first to sign up to the petition.
This month, Cable visited Go For It theatre school in Richmond, where he signed up to the petition (Cable is pictured with Go For It principal and Equity councillor Teri Scoble and child performers from the school).
