Garrett to explore opera in 20-week TV series

Lesley Garrett is to present a new series on satellite channel Sky Arts called 20 Operas to See Before You Die.

The series will see a different opera broadcast each week, including Mozart’s The Magic Flute and Bizet’s Carmen, with each performance preceded by Garrett talking about the show’s composer. The soprano will also share her personal experiences of performing some of the featured works.

She said: “I hope that this season encourages people to sample opera and stir up debate about the choice of operas we think they simply cannot afford to miss.”

The series starts on February 4 next year and will run every Monday at 8pm for 20 weeks.
