Capital Radio presenter Johnny Vaughan is to star alongside Nick Hancock in a new BBC Radio 4 drama.

Called Me and Joe, the 45-minute play is about a father who has to make a difficult choice when someone from his past shows up on his doorstep.

It has been written by David Spicer and is being made by the radio arm of Celador Productions. The drama will be broadcast in January.

Celador Productions has also been commissioned to make Good Evening, a play by Roy Smiles which tells the on and off stage story of Beyond the Fringe, the British comedy stage revue that was written by Peter Cook, Dudley Moore and Alan Bennett in the sixties.

Casting has not been announced but the drama will be broadcast in the spring next year.

Celador will also produce My Blue Wedding, written by Birds of a Feather creators Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran. The play is a follow up to Marks and Gran’s My Blue Heaven and stars Michael Maloney, Emma Amos and Phyllida Law. It will air in December.

All productions have been commissioned by Jeremy Howe for BBC Radio 4.
