Patrick Stewart was forced to withdraw from his performance of Macbeth at the Gielgud Theatre last night, due to laryngitis.
At yesterday evening’s show (November 8), the actor, who recently won a Theatrical Management Association Award for his part in the production, was replaced by understudy Tim Treloar. The theatre said he had been forced to rest “on doctor’s orders” due to acute laryngitis.
A spokesperson for the production today insisted that Stewart would perform as usual this evening.
