Ricky to join Bianca in EastEnders return

Published Tuesday 30 October 2007 at 12:45 by Matthew Hemley

Sid Owen is returning to EastEnders to reprise his role as Ricky Butcher, it was revealed today.

The BBC publicised Owen’s return just a day after announcing Patsy Palmer, who played Bianca, will also be making a comeback. Both will be featured in the series from the spring of next year.

But while Palmer’s character has hit rock bottom, Owen’s has “done very well for himself and has a gorgeous fiancee in tow”, according to the BBC.

EastEnders executive producer Diederick Santer said: “I’m thrilled to welcome Sid Owen back to EastEnders. Ricky and Bianca were a hugely popular partnership on the show. They’re both now living their own lives, and there’s been a good deal of water under the bridge, but could the old spark reignite?”

Owen said he was “over the moon” to be asked back, adding he was looking forward to working with Palmer again.
