Olivier Award-winner Pauline Collins is to star in Stephen Fry’s Cindrella alongside Sandi Toksvig at The Old Vic this Christmas.
Collins will play the Fairy Godmother to Toksvig’s Narrator. The pair will be joined by Debbie Chazen as the Queen, Oliver Chopping as Dandini, Paul Keating as Buttons, Joseph Millson as Prince Charming and Madeleine Worral as Cinderella. Hal Fowler and Mark Lockyer are set to play the Ugly Sisters.
Fry’s new production, to be directed by Fiona Laird, updates the story to the 21st century. “I’ve tried to remember that for many of the children who come, it will be their first Cinderella, their first pantomime and their first visit to a theatre,” said Fry. “Pantomime should be the beginning of a never-ending love affair with theatre.”
