One of Britain’s most famous theatrical and literary agents Felix de Wolfe has died at the age of 93.
De Wolfe founded his agency more than 60 years ago and during his career represented some of the country’s biggest names in light entertainment, including Hattie Jacques, Thora Hird and Derek Guyler, as well as many leading film and theatre actors such as Brian Glover and Phil Rose.
He also handled a variety of literary names, ranging from the composer Julian Slade to playwrights such as Jan Butlin.
Actor Phil Rose, best known for his role as Friar Tuck in ITV’s Robin of Sherwood, said: “Felix was a marvellous agent who really cared about his clients. He was a gentleman of the old school but very modern with his casting ideas. Actors were proud to call him their agent.”
De Wolfe died on Friday, October 12. He is survived by his daughter Caroline, who runs the Felix De Wolfe Agency.
A private family funeral will take place this week and a memorial service will be announced at a future date. A full obituary will appear in a future edition of The Stage newspaper.
