Both Bernie Nolan and Richard Shelton have decided to pursue alternative work commitments elsewhere in the UK which will prevent them being able to attend the planned weekly shows in Blackpool, said a spokesperson for theatre owners Blackpool Piers Company.

Anyone having purchased a ticket for future dates for the Soap Queens (And Kings) show can obtain a full refund from their ticket point of purchase.

However, North Pier is in negotiations with several promoters with regards to bringing in other shows to the theatre for the illuminations and October half-term weekends.

North Pier Theatre is still promoting the Bring Me Sunshine tribute to Morecambe and Wise show every Thursday and is looking forward to the return of the Sooty Show in October.

Steve Mills, executive general manager for the Blackpool Piers Company said: “Whilst the loss of Soap Queens (And Kings) is disappointing, we are more committed than ever to ensuring the future success of North Pier Theatre, and are already talking to several interested parties with regard to bringing fresh and exciting product to North Pier theatre in the 2008 season.”
