Bebo launches its second interactive online drama series

Internet site Bebo is to launch its second interactive drama series following the success of KateModern, which attracted more than three million views in its first eight weeks.

The new drama, called Sofia’s Diary, will be available from the autumn on the social networking site and has been written by Danny Stack.

The character of Sofia will post daily video and text updates on her own Bebo profile and will engage directly with the Bebo community. Viewers will be able to influence the plot and Bebo said the drama would “blur the line between fiction and reality by combining real events mixed with fictional stories”.

Casting has not yet been announced.

Bebo international president Joanna Shields said: “Sofia’s Diary takes drama to the next level by embracing the web as a new medium for storytelling. It’s not enough for a piece of content to exist on a single medium - broadcasters, producers and writers need to consider the potential of telling multifaceted stories using multiple media.”

She added: “For an audience that’s spending less and less time in front of traditional media, Sofia’s Diary presents a new form of entertainment that makes the audience an integral part of the show.”
