Total Theatre names fringe award winners

Arts agency Total Theatre has announced the winners of its tenth annual Edinburgh Festival Fringe awards.
Winners of the best emerging company category were 1927 for Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea. Get Your War On by Rude Mechs was named best original work by a collective, and Woyzeck by Sadari Movement Laboratory was awarded best physical performance.
Ontroerend Goed was given first place for experimentation for its production The Smile Off Your Face. Best small scale work went to News From Nowhere for its show England, and the award for significant contribution went to Complicite founder member Jos Houben.
A special wildcard vote by the audience was won by company Precarious for Druthers. The six winners were picked from 400 nominees.
Total Theatre is a national agency funded by Arts Council England. Its awards are sponsored by the University of Winchester, University of Chichester, ArtsHub and The Centre for Excellence in Training for Theatre based at the Central School of Speech and Drama.
