New series of Torchwood is set to light up BBC2

Doctor Who spin off Torchwood is to move to BBC2 when it returns for a new series next year.

The new run will feature some guest appearances, including James Marsters who starred as Spike in Buffy The Vampire Slayer and Alan Dale, who played Jim Robinson in Neighbours and Bradford Meade in Ugly Betty.

The show’s creator Russell T Davies said: “We’re aiming to make the show bigger and bolder than ever, as we move to our new home on BBC2. It’s too early to start giving things away, but we’ve got some amazing guest stars, fearsome new aliens, and compelling new storylines that will push the Torchwood team further than ever.”

The first series, which aired on BBC3 last year, achieved the channel’s highest ever ratings - with an audience of 2.5 million for the first episode.
