He will play Daniel Marrack in the post-watershed soap, alongside former EastEnders actress Martine McCutcheon as Susan Penwarden. The pair play former lovers whose complicated affairs are played out among teenage angst, family loyalties and tested friendships.

The 12-part series, written by HolbyBlue writer Tony Jordan, will be shown in conjunction with Moving Wallpaper, a comedy set behind-the scenes of Echo Beach.

Moving Wallpaper is also a 12-part series for ITV1 and will feature Ben Miller as producer Jonathan Pope, who is trying to make a success of the soap.

Both series are being made by Jordan’s production company Red Planet Pictures in association with Life on Mars producer Kudos and are due to go out later this year.
