Julie Christie is to make her first British stage appearance for more than ten years, in Cries from the Heart at the Royal Court Theatre on June 17.

The actress and campaigner will perform an account of a Somali widow whose husband and son were killed as they fled from war-torn Mogadishu, as part of a special evening in aid of Human Rights Watch.

Other artists taking part include Sinead Cusack, Jeremy Irons, Tom Stoppard, Sophie Okonedo, Ben Okri and Juliet Stevenson.

The event is directed by Natalie Abrahami and focuses on the issue of migration through the writing of poets and novelists around the world.
