Top National Theatre of Scotland shows to transfer to US

The National Theatre of Scotland is to embark on its first US tour, taking award-winning shows Black Watch and The Wolves in the Walls to New York and Los Angeles.

It has been awarded £195,000 from the Scottish government’s International Touring Fund to transfer the productions this autumn.

Black Watch will visit the Freud Theatre, Los Angeles, from September 18 before going to St Ann’s Warehouse, New York, from October 20. The Wolves in the Walls will visit New York’s New Victory Theatre from October 5.

Vicky Featherstone, chief executive of NTS, said: “In order for us to justify our national status, it is vital that we create work which, as well as communicating to audiences at home, has a universal appeal.

“It is an honour that in our first year, among others, these two pieces have been singled out and are receiving such support from our partners at the Scottish government, the British Council and in the US to make this happen.”
