At a meeting today, the BBC tabled a two-year offer consisting of a 3.5% or £700 increase - whichever is greater - in the first year, followed by a 2% increase in the second.
Bectu rejected the offer, claiming it amounts to a pay cut in real terms.
Bectu supervisory official for the BBC division Luke Crawley said: “Union members at the BBC will be angered by this offer which, due to the current rate of inflation, assumes a cut in pay in real terms for the next two years.”
He said Bectu would be meeting with other unions on June 6 to decide the “best method to force the BBC to table a better offer” and warned that strike action would be considered.
