Contact’s Morgan to be Edinburgh Festival Fringe director
Edinburgh Festival Fringe has announced Jon Morgan, currently executive producer of Contact Theatre in Manchester, as its new director.
Morgan will replace current incumbent Paul Gudgin when he steps down in June after more than seven years in the job. Prior to working for Contact, Morgan worked with a number of Scottish companies and venues and served as an advisor to Scottish Arts Council on the bid to set up the National Theatre of Scotland.
Baroness Elizabeth Smith, chair of the fringe’s board of directors, commented: “Heading up the world’s biggest celebration of the arts is a challenging role, and we are confident that Jon is extremely well placed for it. His experience paired with his ambition will no doubt build on the fringe’s past success.”
Morgan will take up his role following Gudgin’s departure on June 7 - the day on which this year’s programme will be launched.
