Andrew Lloyd Webber has confirmed that his planned sequel to The Phantom of the Opera will go ahead, and it will be set in New York.
“I will do the Phantom of the Opera sequel,” he said. “More on the Phantom sequel anon. But it’s going to be very exciting and I can reveal it will be set in New York.”
Phantom of the Opera is one of the world’s most successful shows and holds the record for the longest running musical on Broadway. Last year, a shortened version of the show opened in Las Vegas.
