Patrick Stewart will star in the title role of Macbeth and as Malvolio in Twelfth Night as part of this years’ Chichester Festival.

Rupert Goold and Philip Franks will direct the two shows respectively, while the productions will share the same cast.

Also featuring in the CFT’s 2007 programme is Alan Bennett’s Office Suite, starring Patricia Routledge, which opens the season and The Last Confession by Roger Crane, which will feature David Suchet.

Rodgers and Hart’s Babes in Arms will serve as the festival’s musical centrepiece, while Lindsay Posner will direct a new translation of Jean Anouilh’s The Waltz of the Toreadors by Ranjit Bolt.

Artistic director Jonathan Church will direct Hobson’s Choice by Harold Brighouse and Mark Rylance brings his show The Big Secret Live “I am Shakespeare” Webcam Daytime Chatroom Show. Meanwhile, last season’s hit The Life and Adventure’s of Nicholas Nickleby will close the season in September, returning for a two-week run prior to going on tour.
