Leading arts figure and opera producer Alan Sievewright has died.
The Edinburgh-born impresario numbered among his friends and associates Marlene Dietrich and Maria Callas and he produced numerous opera concerts in London starring Dame Joan Sutherland, Montserrat Caballe and Jose Carreras.
He was co-producer for the TV documentary Maria, for which both he and director Tony Palmer won two awards. In 1987, he devised a Maria Callas exhibition at the Royal Festival Hall.
He also produced several documentaries for The South Bank Show including The Tales of Helpmann, a film biography of Robert Helpmann, as well as profiles of Marlene Dietrich and Montserrat Caballe.
He had been ill for some time and died in London on January 23, aged 72.
