Gallacher takes on Watford Palace executive role

Birmingham Royal Ballet education director Anne Gallacher is to join Watford Palace Theatre as its new executive director, replacing Mary Caws who left the role last year.

A member of the Clore Leadership Programme - an initiative launched to train up a new generation of cultural administrators - Gallacher is leaving BRB to work alongside Watford’s recently appointed artistic director and chief executive Brigid Larmour. Gallacher, who starts her new position next month, headed up BRB’s community programme and has previously worked for Aberdeen International Youth Festival, Birmingham City Council and West Midlands Arts.

When Larmour joined the Palace in August of last year, she stressed she wanted to increase the focus on its education programme and integrate it more fully with the venue’s main house line-up.

Commenting on Gallacher’s appointment, she said: “I am delighted about Anne’s appointment. Her range of experience, not only within major arts organisations but also in local authorities, as well as her in-depth knowledge of the education and community sector, will be a huge asset in my plans for the Palace. She has a passion for work which reaches out to connect with its audience.”
