Random Dance founder McGregor joins Royal Ballet

Wayne McGregor, founder of Random Dance, has been appointed resident choreographer at The Royal Ballet.

McGregor, whose previous work for the company includes Chroma, Engram, Qualia and Symbiont(s), takes up the post this month.

Royal Ballet director Monica Mason said: “I am really thrilled that Wayne wants to develop and deepen his relationship with The Royal Ballet.

“He will create new work, guide our young choreographers and already has plans for a major project with our education department. His special talent and his curiosity for new technology will enrich our creativity.”

McGregor has created more than 30 works for Random Dance, a resident company at Sadler’s Wells, as well as having produced work for Stuttgart Ballet, English National Ballet, San Francisco Ballet and Rambert Dance Company.
