Sleep will appear in High Society tour

Wayne Sleep is to star in a major new national tour of High Society, opening at Manchester’s Palace Theatre in February.

The Strictly Dance Fever judge and Royal Ballet veteran will play Uncle Willie in Cole Porter’s classic musical.

Sleep, who was appointed an OBE in 1998, recently played the Child Catcher in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the London Palladium and appeared in Gillian Lynn’s production of Cabaret in the West End.

The original production of High Society premiered at Regent’s Park Theatre in 2004 and enjoyed a successful UK tour.

It then transferred to the Shaftesbury Theatre and starred Jerry Hall, who had to pull out of the show after contracting glandular fever.
