Bradwell quits Bush Theatre after a decade

Published Friday 17 November 2006 at 13:00 by Nuala Calvi

Mike Bradwell has announced that he will step down as artistic director of The Bush Theatre next year, after more than ten years in the job.

He leaves having directed over 35 plays at the West London venue and will bow out with a production of Georgia Fitch’s I Like Mine With A Kiss, opening on February 14.

Bradwell said: “I think it’s time somebody else has a go. I want to spend time concentrating on writing and devising my own work and I would like the opportunity to work on a broader canvas. I would also like to take a gap year and direct all the major plays of Anton Chekhov.”

The Bush’s board will shortly be advertising for a replacement artistic director to lead the theatre’s planned move into a larger building.
