Channel 4 news presenter Jon Snow will be appearing the Broadway Studio Theatre’s new production of Romeo and Juliet, which opens this month
The show has been reworked into a contemporary Middle East setting and the award-winning journalist will appear as ‘the Chorus’ in a pre-recorded film that will be projected on stage.
Producer Martin Costello said: “In the context of our setting, an un-named war-torn area of the Middle East, Jon Snow’s appearance as a war journalist, reporting on the conflict between the Montagues and Capulets, is perfect.”
The popular broadcaster agreed to take part in the production because one of the leading actors, Harry Long, who plays Benvolio, is the son of former colleague James Long.
Tim Roth’s son Jack will play Romeo in the show, which is directed by Cameron Jack, who most recently worked on A Clockwork Orange and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. The show opens at the theatre in Catford on November 15 for a four-week run.
