More GCap woe as 111,000 switch off Vaughan

Published Thursday 26 October 2006 at 12:20 by Liz Thomas

Johnny Vaughan’s breakfast show on Capital Radio also recorded its lowest ever audience, a double whammy for the station which suffered with a slump in figures overall.

His show remains the most listened to commercial programme in London but audiences have dwindled 111,000 in the past year.

His ratings now stand at 782,000, which is a substantial drop from the 1.37 million he inherited when Chris Tarrant left in spring 2004.

Heart’s Jamie Theakston also lost listeners, dropping 115,000 to 768,000 putting him just 14,000 behind Vaughan, while Magic’s Neil Fox recorded a 725,000 audience.
