Northern Ballet to revisit Christmas Carol

Northern Ballet Theatre is to revive Charles Dickens’ festive classic A Christmas Carol this year.

The production will combine traditional ballet, choreographed by Massimo Moricone, with theatre to tell the story of Ebenezer Scrooge’s transformation.

A Christmas Carol returns after a three-year absence from the company’s repertoire. Sets and costumes are by Lez Brotherston and the score is by Carl Davis. The music is to be played live by the NBT Orchestra, with well-known carols sung by the company.

Artistic director David Nixon explained: “Restaging what has become a signature piece from the era of Christopher Gable demonstrates NBT’s commitment to preserving our heritage by performing key works from our repertoire. A Christmas Carol has delighted audiences nationwide for more than a decade. It is a great festive production that appeals to the whole family.”

The show will run in Canterbury, Leeds, Sheffield, Norwich, Bath and Hull in November and December.
