Hayley Mills to join ITV1’s Wild at Heart

Published Thursday 17 August 2006 at 16:15 by Liz Thomas

John Mills’ daughter, the film star Hayley Mills, is to join the cast of hit ITV drama Wild at Heart.

Best known for her roles in Tiger Bay, The Parent Trap and Polyanna, the actress will take on the role of Amanda Holden’s mother Caroline in the series. Wild At Heart also stars Stephen Tompkinson, Holden and former Coronation Street talent Lucy-Jo Hudson.

Mills said: “I’m incredibly excited to be joining the cast of Wild at Heart, I’ve seen every episode and think it’s a wonderful family show with such fantastic interaction with the animals. My character Caroline is quite outspoken and has a tendency to rub people up the wrong way.  She has a difficult relationship with her daughter and does upset things considerably when she turns up at Leopard’s Den. She is a well rounded character and one I’ll really be able to get my teeth into. I can’t wait to start work on the show.”

The series, which is made by Shameless producer Company Pictures and has been extended up to ten episodes for the second series, is currently being filmed in South Africa.
