Musical stars launch children’s West End scheme

Published Wednesday 26 July 2006 at 12:45 by Nuala Calvi

Stars including Jon Lee, Antony Costa and Jennifer Ellison turned out to launch booking for Kids Week yesterday, the annual scheme that allows youngsters to experience top West End shows for free.

They were joined by 25 children specially chosen to perform with the cast of Mamma Mia! for the event at the Prince of Wales Theatre.

The scheme, which runs from August 18 to September 1, allows one child aged five to 16 to go free to any participating show when accompanied by a full-paying adult, and another two children to go for half price.

Participating productions this year include Chicago, Les Miserables, Guys and Dolls and Mary Poppins, while workshops are being held over the Kids Week fortnight to give young people a taste of life in the theatre.
