Published Monday 17 July 2006 at 15:45

Comedian Norman Wisdom will present a tribute to Laurel and Hardy for BBC Radio 2 this week .

The 91-year-old comic recorded Another Fine Mess: 80 Years of Laurel and Hardy only a few days before undergoing heart surgery.

Wisdom had a pacemaker fitted in an hour-long operation and is said to be recovering well at his home on the Isle of Man.

“We’re delighted to have Sir Norman on board,” said executive producer Ashley Byrne. “He’s a legend and it’s only right that someone like Norman should be paying tribute to the world’s greatest comedy double act.”

Other guests on the show are Stan and Ollie’s co-star Jean Darling and fans including Rik Mayall and Ken Dodd.

Another Fine Mess: 80 Years of Laurel and Hardy, from Made in Manchester productions, will be broadcast at 8.30pm on Tuesday, July 18 on Radio 2.
